Outstanding Service and Support I woke up this morning to zero water pressure and expected the worst. I called their service line, and instead of immediately scheduling a costly visit, the technician patiently walked me through a step‑by‑step troubleshooting process. With his guidance, I was able to isolate the issue and fix it myself — no service call needed. It’s rare to find a company that first ensures that the correct problem is identified before scheduling a service call. His professionalism and willingness to help saved me time, money, and a lot of stress. I couldn’t be more impressed. Highly recommended.

Was having pressure issues. They walked me through some things on the phone and then came out on Saturday. -1 degree outside. Found a broken fitting by the well pump. Very reasonably priced and didn’t try to sell me a new pump that I didn’t need. I would call them anytime I have an issue. Thanks TLC

Highly recommend. They were able to troubleshoot the problem with the well over the phone on our initial call and patiently waited as I eventually did a temporary fix. On the service call to install a new tank and switch, they went above and beyond with an electrical issue, and even helped with a whole house water filter.

Very impressed with TLC Well Service. They came out on a Sunday in freezing cold temperatures to replace my well pump. Very professional and personable. Went above and beyond expectations to solve my problem. They continued checking and exceeded expectations days after the job was done. I highly recommend TLC for any well service you need.

When to test private well water

Routine testing matters, and some changes should not wait

Testing can provide useful answers when the water changes, the well has been disturbed, or you simply need an up-to-date picture of water quality.

Your annual test is due

Yearly testing helps track water quality even when the water has no obvious color, taste, or odor problem.

The water looks, smells, or tastes different

Cloudiness, sediment, staining, sulfur odor, metallic taste, or another new change deserves testing.

Floodwater reached the well area

Test after flooding or runoff may have entered or surrounded the wellhead.

The well or pump was repaired

Well, pump, piping, or other system work may create a need for disinfection and follow-up testing.

You are buying or selling a home

Current results and a physical well inspection can clarify water quality and equipment condition before closing.

A local or household concern has changed

A health department, laboratory, lender, or property condition may call for additional tests beyond an annual panel.

Test before choosing treatment

Water testing turns a vague concern into useful information

Odor, color, taste, and staining are clues, but they cannot identify every water-quality concern. A certified laboratory can test for substances that are not visible.

TLC helps connect the testing process with the well and treatment equipment. If results identify a concern, the next step may involve the health department, a system repair, well disinfection, filtration, purification, or follow-up testing. The right response depends on the result—not guesswork.

The Indiana Department of Health recommends at least annual private-well testing and using a certified drinking-water laboratory. Your local health department can help identify additional tests that fit local risks.

What to expect

A useful testing process from sample to next step

  1. Discuss the reason for testing

Share whether this is routine, tied to a water change, needed after well work, or part of a home purchase.

  2. Choose the appropriate tests

Use certified-laboratory and health-department guidance to select the annual basics and any additional local or property-specific items.

  3. Collect the sample correctly

Follow the laboratory’s bottle, faucet-preparation, timing, storage, and delivery instructions so the result is useful.

  4. Respond to the results

TLC can help connect the findings to inspection, repair, disinfection, treatment, or retesting while health questions remain with the laboratory or health department.

Well water testing questions

Clear answers about testing your water

How often should private well water be tested?

The Indiana Department of Health recommends testing at least annually. It specifically recommends annual bacteria and nitrate testing, with additional testing based on risk, results, well work, and local guidance.

Can clear water still have a problem?

Yes. Some germs and chemicals cannot be seen, smelled, or tasted. A certified laboratory test is the reliable way to check for them.

What should I test for every year?

Indiana recommends annual bacteria and nitrate testing. The CDC also recommends annual total coliform, nitrate, total dissolved solids, and pH testing. Ask a certified laboratory or local health department what else fits your property.

When should I test sooner than once a year?

Test after flooding, well or pump work, a positive result, or a sudden change in color, clarity, taste, or odor. Also follow any health-department or lender requirement.

Is water testing the same as a well inspection?

No. Testing evaluates the water sample. An inspection evaluates the physical well system, pump, pressure equipment, controls, and visible condition.

What happens if a test identifies a concern?

Follow the laboratory or health department’s safety guidance. TLC can then help with appropriate well repair, disinfection, treatment, purification, or follow-up testing.
